Description
This course will provide an introduction to the cutting edge educational technologies Digital Scholar Lab (DSL) and Adobe Spark. Students will digitally explore Goldey-Beacom College’s virtual archives using DSL and its text analysis and data visualization tools. They will compare events during GBC’s history to those happening nationwide during the same time period by exploring digital newspapers in ProQuest Central. Ultimately, students will create their own digital stories with recorded voice, pictures, and optionally, video, using Adobe Spark. Their final product can be saved for students to use in future portfolio work at GBC and may be easily shared online if students choose to do so on a variety of social networking sites. Instruction is also provided on how to navigate Campus Web, the College’s Learning Management System, GBC e-mail, and how to use Yammer for communication. This is a College preparatory course which is completed prior to beginning degree course work.
